A recipe for success

Organisers of the award winning Ideal Home Show at Christmas sponsored by, Media 10 ltd, have branded their return to EventCity, Manchester, a resounding success. The announcement comes following a four-day [12th-15th November) extravaganza, which saw the UK's best-loved Christmas exhibition return to the venue, but this time housed with the The Cake & Bake Show.

A first for organiser Media 10 ltd, co-locating the two shows at EventCity, and a brand new venue for The Cake & Bake Show, the fused-formula proved successful with record breaking crowds of 44,000 turning out to seek inspiration from the worlds of homes, interiors, fashion and beauty, food and drink, and baking.

The shows' co-location meant visitors got an extra slice of entertainment and a chance to see the countless television personalities and industry professionals on hand across the dates at the shows as tickets gave admission to both the Ideal Home Show at Christmas and The Cake & Bake Show.

Packed with interactive features and enticing tutorials to get visitors excited, there was no lack of fun to be had and with 300 festive exhibitors, the Ideal Home Show at Christmas certainly lived up to its name. Fronting the show was TV Chef, Gino D'ACampo, flamboyant Interior Designer, Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, Wine Expert and TV personality, Olly Smith and Model and Presenter, Katie Piper who presented a series of talks on 'Confidence at Christmas' on the Christmas Theatre.

Highlights and visitor attractions included The Christmas Bandstand, where local choirs and musicians performed renditions of classic Christmas songs, The Gregg Wallace Restaurant, where guests could dine and sample the most festive tastes, and the Champagne Bar sponsored by Hydropool and the Smooth Radio Lounge where visitors could wind down after shopping.

At The Cake & Bake Show, the newly crowned champion Nadiya Hussain was the headline act alongside her fellow finalists Tamil Ray and Ian Cumming, demonstrating on the Great British Bake Off Live stage. Other appearances came from past winners including Jo Wheatley, John Whaite and Frances Quinn and a whole host of past contestants. The Super Theatre saw baking luminaries such as Eric Lanlard, Rosemary Shrager and Phil Vickery bring their craft alive with crowd-pleasing demos.

Another feature which caught the crowds interest was The Story Telling Chair created by cake designer and Guinness Book of Records holder, Jacqui Kelly, comprising a huge scale armchair surrounded by an oversized stack of sugar crafted books and story book characters from favourite childhood tales.
