Spotted: 'Peaky Blinders' in East London

Media 10 channels the hit BBC drama in outstanding Christmas Party in Shoreditch.

Taking East London by storm, media and events company Media 10 commuted from its Essex offices to London’s trendiest neighbourhood: Shoreditch. Fully dressed in Peaky Blinders costumes, staff travelled to the atmospheric venue, The Horse & Groom, attracting a few glances on the way.

The day started in the company’s Loughton offices with mysterious red velvet bags distributed to all staff, containing a map with directions and some extra cash for the tube journey. At the kitchen, mince pies, sausage rolls and sherry were flowing.

Media 10 staff Dale Nicholson, said: “From the moment they revealed the theme was ‘Peaky Blinders’ I was thrilled as this is a great series and I’m very into it. Plus, the majority of the clothes I wear are in sync with their style. From the start of the day with the photography, videos, sherry and message bags we knew we were all in for a fun time. The venue was amazing with great food and entertainment. Once again, hats off to Media 10 which pulled off a spectacular party!”

Located in the heart Shoreditch, the iconic Horse & Groom was a natural choice of venue, with its stylish dilapidated walls, original woodwork and vintage settings.

Revellers and onlookers were enthralled by the details: a dark horse stood at the main entrance with sparks and smoke setting the backdrop and complementing the atmosphere. Inside, a fortune teller, scattered fake currency and a talented “Grace Burgess” delighted the crowd with Irish folk songs and a Christmas sing-a-long.

Add to this a bit of karaoke and some amazing street foodprovided by ROK Restaurant as well as our amazing DJ Sean Gorham (disco reviewer for MixMag) and you have yourself a blinding evening.

Partygoer Elaine Walsh said: “The Christmas Party was fantastic. Everyone made a fabulous effort with the dress code and the atmosphere was very Peaky Blinders. I enjoyed everything, from the music and smoky surrounding to the food. Well done to all who had a part to play organising it all: I cannot wait till the summer!”

“Such a great time and everyone made such an effort, as always.  It felt like I was actually in Peaky Blinders.   The venue, the costumes, the horse, the smoke, and of course, the singing – absolutely brilliant!!” said Media 10 staff Dee Lacey.

Media 10, which accommodates 270 staff at its headquarters, is notoriously famous for its lavish and fun parties, involving generous food and drink, laughter and dashing costume themes. For the summer party, a 1940s theme transported partygoers to the WWII in original vintage coaches, an air raid shelter and even authentic Spitfire stunts at the renowned Squadron at North Weald Airfield in Essex. The company also invited local pensioners to join in the fun, providing a fabulous high-tea. With the venue fully decorated and staff impressively dressed within the theme; you would be forgiven for mistaking the party for a period drama or a movie set.
